Wednesday September 11

I am sure most of you remember exactly what you were doing the moment you heard that American planes were hijacked and the World Trade Centers and the Pentagon were under attack.  For me, those memories are as fresh today as they were the day it happened.  I remember that my school went on lock down and that there were allegations that Miami ports (near to where I lived) were next on the list of terrorist attacks.  I remember feeling scared, helpless and violated as I sat amongst peers, in the silence that was broken only by gasps and sobbing, while the place that I always felt safe was being invaded and innocent lives were being taken.  In the memory and to honor of all the lives that were lost on that that horrific day, today we will spend some time paying homage to those sacrifices and to the families that are left without them.
